Why Corporate Guidelines Are Crucial for Your Business
Corporate guidelines are an essential tool that helps define your company’s identity and ensure consistency across all aspects of your business. Corporate guidelines, also known as brand guidelines, are a set of rules and guidelines that define your business’s visual and verbal identity. These guidelines outline the standards for your logo, typography, colour palette, imagery, tone of voice, and more.
Without corporate guidelines, your business risks appearing disjointed and unprofessional. Inconsistent branding can lead to confusion and mistrust among your customers, making building a loyal customer base challenging. Additionally, it can make it difficult to stand out from your competitors, who likely have strong branding in place.
You may have the best product or service, but without a strong corporate identity, you risk getting lost in the sea of competition.
SDG approached me with a strong and established visual identity but they felt they were lacking consistency across their print and digital platforms resulting in a disjointed visual language internally with their team and externally with suppliers. I was asked to clearly define the variations, positioning, and sizing of their SDG logo. A consistent font style, colour palette, and marketing collateral were designed.
Ensuring Consistency Across All Channels
Corporate guidelines also helped ensure consistency across all aspects of their business, including their website, social media, advertising, and marketing materials. By providing a set of guidelines for their visual and verbal identity, SDG ensured that all of their brand assets were consistent and aligned with their brand identity.
This consistency is essential for building a strong brand presence and making it easier for your customers to recognize and remember your brand. It can also help establish your business’s credibility and professionalism, which is crucial for attracting and retaining customers.
